According To News 18, The personal information of over 81.5 crode Indian citizens with Aadhaar cards has been exposed online, marking what is considered India's most extensive data breach to date. The breach was initially identified by the US Cyber Security and Intelligence Agency Resecurity. According to Resecurity, a hacker using the alias 'pwn001' posted a data thread on Breach forums.


The compromised data includes sensitive personal information such as Aadhaar card and passport details, names, phone numbers, and addresses. It is believed that the hacker obtained this information from the COVID-19 test records of individuals registered with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).


Despite this significant breach, there has been no official response from either the ICMR or the Indian government regarding the incident. However, following the submission of a formal complaint, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has announced its intention to launch an investigation into the matter.
